How often do you consider what exactly is within your power to change? I’ve been taking a closer look a that since a friend of mine got me TAGEVA… with a simple question.

Friend: “When are you going to stop playing spectator to your own story?”
Me > ::passes you the castor oil:: cuz they likely snatched your edges with that one, too
Also me: “Well damn, friend... 👀”

They were NOT wrong. In the flurry of events between packing up my world in Oakland circa 2018 and re-establishing one back home in New York, I’d found myself in a long term betwixt state. Only recently do I even remotely feel as though I am emerging from it.

And while acknowledging said circumstances, my good judy’s observation brought to my attention the ways that I had been breaking my own heart, or as you may have heard it term elsewhere by “giving my power away.”

I emerge from February maybe with a few less friends, c’est la vie. And a few things to be grateful for. For one, for the privilege to turn a year older. But also for the resources, ability (and the extra heap of patience) to navigate the tyranny of poorly designed and maintained government and corporate processes, in order to finally align my real name with my legal one. 👑 #MyNameIsKrys
